senseFly to Host UAV Webinar for Surveyors

senseFly, the Switzerland-based producer of professional mapping UAVs, will host an educational webinar on the applications of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for professional surveying and mapping. Two experienced commercial operators will discuss how they deployed UAVs in the mapping phases of major infrastructure development projects.

The one-hour webinar, “Drone Surveying 101 – Experienced Operators Discuss Cost, Achievable Accuracy, Workflows and More,” will be held on Wednesday, 16 November at 10 a.m. EST/16:00 CET. There is no charge to attend, but attendees must register in advancehere.

How to use UAVs

Thousands of geospatial professionals have already turned to drone technology, said senseFly’s CEO, Jean-Christophe Zufferey. However, this webinar is designed for the rest. The goal is to help non-drone users get a real feel for how this technology works, at a business level, from two experienced professionals who use drones day in, day out. These users will talk participants through every aspect of their unmanned experience – from the pros and cons of drone adoption to hot topics such as achievable accuracy and workflow integration.

UAV survey applications

副总裁马克·a .卡纳斯GISP / MBAof National Freight Rail at Jacobs Engineering, will offer insights into how he surveyed 30 miles of the California High-Speed Rail project with a senseFly eBee RTK UAV – faster and more cost-effectively than traditional methods.

Aidan O’Connor, managing director of ASM Ireland, has used UAVs for survey applications in numerous quarry mapping and large earthwork projects, and he will discuss the efficiency and safety benefits compared to terrestrial methods. O’Connor will also describe which types of UAVs (fixed-wing or multi-copter) are best suited to various remote site survey projects.

In addition, webinar attendees will learn:

  • How UAVs can expand their commercial business offering
  • What it takes to fit UAVs into an existing geospatial workflow
  • How regulations can affect professional UAV use
  • What risks are involved in implementing UAV technology

Additionally, senseFly’s team will provide a glimpse into the company’s very newest UAV technology: the recently releasedeBee Plus. This is the first turnkey UAV system designed specifically for professional photogrammetric mapping.
