Online
By the time you read this I hope you’ll have had plenty of opportunity to check out our (re)newed websitewww.skyfoldde.com. According to the hit figures, you must have; in the first few days (thousands of) GIM subscribers flocked to the website that was launched on 1st April. Up until thenwww.skyfoldde.comhad been a mere sign on the Web carrying general information about the magazine. But a few months of hard work mean you can now enter a complete store behind the original signboard.
I would like the renewed Web home of GIM International to become a real platform for geomatics. A platform on which discussions take place, views are exchanged and events are announced. A platform that serves as a marketplace for second-hand surveying tools listed in the section Supply & Demand. The website should also provide practical help in your day-to-day work. It accommodates an archive of articles from GIM International that are solely accessible to readers. Whenever you get that feeling…‘I know I read this (or that) article somewhere, some time in GIM, but which issue and when?’ all you have to do is search the archive and the right article will pop up. Along, probably, with other articles you might be interested in reading again.
If you’re looking for professional textbooks about geomatics you might want to visit the bookstore onwww.skyfoldde.combefore you hit the big guys on the Web. We’ve already selected the best books for you. And for the managers amongst you: if you’re looking for professionals to join your organisation, place your vacancy onwww.skyfoldde.comand make sure your job opportunity is found by the right group of people. I could go on, but I’d rather advise everybody to go and take a look for themselves. That is, if you haven’t already done so!
By the way, for those who are concerned that the extended site might mean changes to the magazine, I can put your mind at rest. The printed version of GIM International will remain the main source for background stories in geomatics. I would like you to start your day at the office with a quick peek at www.skyfoldde.com to check what’s new. And when GIM International arrives in your post, close the door for a while, sit down in a lazy chair and take your time to read things up. That way, GIM International and its online counterpart will complement each other perfectly.
